[Haebangchon] Le Montblanc Cake

The first posting is where I just went yesterday - Le Montblanc Cafe in Haebangchon!

Haebangchon is a small district close to Itaewon, where cute shops and restaurants are at.

My friend recently told me about this place ShinHeung Shijang (ShinHeung Market), which is a small alley full of interesting cafes and restaurants.

Shijang means a traditional market - so this place used to have been a traditional market, but now it mostly consists hip shops
- but with the same retro touch!

I guess that’s what makes this place special.

So the place I went in ShinHeung Shijang is “Le Montblanc”

It’s a bakery/cafe, and they are known for their cake.

Why?

Here’s why!

Isn’t that amazingly cute??

It certainly caught my eye!

So the cakes are quite pricey - around KRW 10,000 a piece.

Even with the rising prices these days, that is certainly quite expensive.
Especially considering its size.

But it’s very unique - and also quite tasty!

There are many more types and flavors, which I will show you below

The building is a three story building, with indoor seats on the 2nd floor and outside rooftop on the 3rd floor.

The seats are quite limited, so make sure you have secured a seat before you order on the first floor.

There are also bathrooms on the 2nd floor.

So here is what I ordered

A piece of cake called “Coffee” (for its flavor)
+ Americano
+ Latte

The price came out to be KRW 22,000.

They also sell whole cakes, which are really really pricey, but really cute.

Would I recommend?

It is quite pricey… (Seoul cakes these days are expensive, but normally would range around 40-50K KRW)

If you care less about the budget - why not?
It is amazingly cute, afterall.

They also sell cute candles if you need one

As to the taste, they had surprisingly good coffee.

The cake was… it was good but not the best I have ever had.

Would I visit again? Sure, if I am around the area.
Stars: 3.5

Recommended if:
- I want a good posting for Instagram
- I love cute stuff!
- I want to try something that’s hip these days
- I need a good cup of coffee

Not recommended if:
- I am a spendthrift
- I don’t care about how my food looks like.
- I hate crowded places
